Some of the biggest things now come in really small packages, like SONY’s Micro Vault flash drives. Almost half the size of regular pen drives, ranging up to 16GB. With these in hand, you won’t be constantly worried about caps/covers getting misplaced and potentially damaging the device and data. These works on a click mechanism simalar to that used in retractable pens. Based on the USB 2.0 platform, the drives allow for swift data transfer and are compatible with windows and mac OS.

Sony Announces Featherweight VAIO TT Ultraportable
Posted on September 26, 2008 by adheman | No Comments
The pricey new TT Series has an 11-inch screen, Blu-ray drive, HDMI-out, and the option for dual solid-state hard drives.
Writers will be fighting hard not to reference the Audi TT Roadster when writing about Sony‘s latest ultraportable, but their efforts will be futile. Perhaps it’s because the company is calling it the TT series—a 2.9-pound ultraportable that measures less than one inch thin. It’s a new line, replacing the previous Sony VAIO VGN-TZ298N, and integrating the first Blu-ray reader (or writer) on an 11-inch ultraportable.
Although 11-inch widescreens have been on the market for a while now, they reflect the movement to the 16-by-9 form factor, as seen on the HP HDX18t, the Acer Aspire 6920G-6071, and the Sony VAIO VGN-FW198U. The TT Series’s 1,280-by-768 resolution is consistent with the TZ298N’s, and the screen is energy efficient and bright, thanks to the use of LEDs behind the display.
It’s doubtful that customers will be able to see the benefits of Blu-ray on an 11-inch screen, but the system does come with an HDMI-out connector. So the idea here is to drive Blu-ray content to an external display, preferably one that can exploit the 1080p resolution of a Blu-ray movie.
In addition, this little wonder runs two hard drives—yes, you heard right. Although you’ll have to use two 128GB SSD drives, it’s a dual-hard-drive configuration that can be arranged in RAID 0 or RAID 1.
As with the TZ298N, WWAN capabilities are available through Sprint’s EVDO Rev A. For power, the TT Series will use Intel’s Centrino 2 platform. Both Windows Vista and XP will be available on select models. And if the premium Carbon Black is not your cup of tea, you can dress your TT in Silk Black, Champagne Gold, or Crimson Red. Be prepared to shell out some serious cash, though. The starting configuration is $2,000; add a 128-GB SSD drive and you’re up to $2,750; put in a second 128GB SSD drive and you’re well into the $3,000 range.

TOKYO (AFP) – Sony will launch a new PlayStation Portable in October with a high-resolution screen and a built-in microphone that enables it to be used as a telephone, the company said Thursday.
The PSP-3000, which will be available in Japan, Asia, North America and Europe, has the same basic design of the current PSP Slim and Lite, and comes in three colours — black, white and silver.
It can be used to make telephone calls through the Skype service, which Sony added to PSPs already on the market earlier this year in an effort to broaden its appeal amid fierce competition with rival Nintendo Co.
The new PSP comes with a price tag of 199.99 dollars in North America and 199 euros (294 dollars) in Europe. The price for Asia has not yet been announced.
Sony aims to sell 15 million PSPs worldwide in the current fiscal year to March 2009.
“Demand for the consoles is still strong, especially in the United States,” Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. spokeswoman Yoko Sakaki said.
Skype, which was bought by eBay in October of 2004, uses a peer-to-peer network to enable users to make free Internet telephone calls to one another through their computers, or low-cost calls to standard telephones.
Sony also announced it will launch the Wireless Keypad, which can slot into Sixaxis and Dualshock 3 controllers for the PlayStation 3, in North America in late November, followed by Japan, Europe and Asia by the end of this year.
Users can use the keypad instead of the onscreen keyboard for text chat.
Sony is also launching a new version of the PlayStation 3 console with a 160-gigabyte hard drive in November in North America for 499.99 dollars, and in Europe from November 1 with a price tag of 499 euros.
