by Sarang on October 28, 2009

Continuing the topics of Windows 7 [x86 and x64] 32-bit and 64-bit Direct download links leaked and Tutorial to Create and Make a Bootable Windows 7 ISO DVD from EXE plus Setup1.box and Setup2.box Files , in this third post of mine, I am going to describe my readers a Tutorial by which you could extract all versions (i.e. Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate) from the developed ISO file from EXE plus Setup1.box and Setu2.box Files.

Unlike, Windows Vista, Windows 7 ISO consist of all versions within it, but is locked to install only the Professional version. To unlock this boundation , just follow the following steps:

  • Download and Install Ultra ISO
  • Open the generated ISO File from exe , Setup1.box and Setup2.box
  • Now search for the ei.cfg file and delete it ,as show in the following ScreenShots:
15 Tutorial to extract all editions or versions(SKU) of Windows 7 from downloaded Windows 7 ISO made from EXE plus Setup1.box and Setup2.box Files
  • 25 Tutorial to extract all editions or versions(SKU) of Windows 7 from downloaded Windows 7 ISO made from EXE plus Setup1.box and Setup2.box Files
  • Once done, click on File > “Save as” and save the new ISO file with some new name.
  • Burn the new and modified ISO using your favorite CD/DVD burning software like Nero, Power ISO or ULTRA ISO itself.
  • You are done now, during installation a screen will prompt asking the version to select for installation like:
45 Tutorial to extract all editions or versions(SKU) of Windows 7 from downloaded Windows 7 ISO made from EXE plus Setup1.box and Setup2.box Files

You are done now. You can install any version of Windows 7 from your downloaded Windows 7 professional files.

Is it possible to delete the ei.cgf from the expanded setup

avatar The wonkydonk. November 18, 2009 at 5:12 pm

Gotta say;

Am building a pc for a client, who has purchasedWin7 home premium (their choice) the dvd is en-route, but I have built the pc.

I downloaded Pro for here upon date of posting. But to save downloading again, I followed the tip precisely and it worked a treat.

New build, clean install, Home Premium from pro software with genuine key on way.

Thank you for this.

Nice workaround.

Luke’s workaround is easy too- thanks.

I followed the procedure and it worked; unlocking all the versions from Home Premium ISO :) Thanks Chinks.

By the way, I herd that win7 can be activated by using a Master OEM Key, is that true? Have you done that guys? Thanks in advance.

avatar chinks November 24, 2009 at 8:57 am

Nope you cant! Every edition got different serial key for them..

avatar rein December 10, 2009 at 8:58 pm

what is the different between version could someone explain me what is the best edition or version to install? thanks btw.

avatar chinks December 11, 2009 at 6:22 am

@ rein … Different versions are developed for different users.. and versions lack some of the features: Ultimate is the best version/edition out of all, as it doesn’t lack any feature and is complete :)

avatar rein December 11, 2009 at 6:45 am
